She Can Swim: Encouraging regional women and girls to swim

She Can Swim

What is it?

In regional WA, women lead mainly land-based lives, rarely encountering water. This lack of familiarity can affect their ability to enjoy water activities safely, especially when on holiday near water. This, in turn, perpetuates a cycle of generational non-swimmers in their children.

This project empowers regional and country women and girls to engage in swimming to break this cycle, and engage in the physical activity of swimming for recreation!

What are the details?

We will be offering swimming sessions at specific regional locations three times to deliver focused activities for women in the ocean or your nearest regional pool. Swimmers will be divided into groups based on their abilities and everyone is welcome!

What you’ll do

This She Can Swim class is for you:

If you can’t swim we will help you build confidence and show you things you can practice that will help you on your journey to call yourself a swimmer

If you can swim we will show you some nifty ideas to help you improve enabling you to swim faster with more finesse and have more fun in the process.

Two coaches will be in attendance for each session so please don’t feel you are ‘too’ anything as in too slow, too fast, too sinky, too afraid, too busy!!!

We cannot wait to bring Swimming Women to these new pools and look forward to having some fun as we share our love of water.

If you have time we would love you to stick around after for a cuppa and if you cant that’s ok we understand at least we got to see you in the water.

There is no cost for this session however normal pool entry fees will apply.
